Rep. Mark Dorazio has spent a lifetime serving our community and the Republican Party – as a Precinct Chairman, as Chairman of the Republican Party of Bexar County, as State Republican Executive Committeeman for Senate District 25, and now as State Representative for Texas House District 122.

His track record as a principled and effective conservative is decades long, and Mark is proud to have delivered on the issues his constituents care about most.

Below you will find many of the Texas victories Mark delivered for his constituents in 2025:

Property Tax Relief

  • SB 4: Increased the homestead exemption from $100,000 to $140,000. Mark Dorazio was a cosponsor.
  • SB 23: Increased the additional homestead exemption for elderly and disabled homeowners from $10,000 to $60,000. This means that the total exemption for the elderly and disabled is $200,000. Mark Dorazio was a cosponsor.

Border Security

  • SB 1: Secured nearly $3.5 billion for continued border security and enforcement.
  • SB 8: Mandated that all local law enforcement in Texas work with Trump’s ICE to enforce expedited deportation of illegal aliens.
  • SB 36 Established a Homeland Security Division within the Department of Public Safety to coordinate large-scale security operations among multiple agencies, jurisdictions, and private partners. This will include managing intelligence centers, developing homeland security plans, and protecting critical infrastructure.

Protecting Texas Kids

  • SB 13: Overhauled school library policies by requiring procedures for reviewing and approving materials, cracked down on sexually explicit books, and created a statewide rating system for library content to protect students from inappropriate materials.
  • SB 412: Closed a loophole which allowed harmful content, including pornography to be shown to minors in “educational settings.”
  • HB 4623: Allowed schools and employees to be held liable for sexual misconduct against students or failure to report abuse, waiving immunity in cases of negligence or recklessness.
  • SB 20: Created a new criminal offense under the Texas Penal Code for possessing, accessing, or promoting child pornography, including AI-generated or animated content, and added it to organized crime statutes for stricter penalties.

Texas is Not for Sale

  • SB 17: Banned certain aliens and foreign entities from hostile nations (like China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia) from purchasing or acquiring interests in Texas real property, with criminal offenses and civil penalties. Mark Dorazio was a cosponsor.
  • HB 132: Expanded confidentiality laws to keep sensitive data like emergency response plans, risk assessments, and critical infrastructure details from falling into the hands of foreign adversaries.
  • HB 119: Prevented hostile foreign influence on state policymaking by prohibiting lobbyists from receiving compensation to represent foreign adversaries or entities linked to them.

Secure Elections

  • HB 1661: Ensured sufficient ballot supplies by requiring at least 125% of prior election turnout ballots and increases penalties for election misconduct.
  • SB 2166: Modified public logic and accuracy testing requirements for electronic voting systems to enhance verification and tabulation processes.
  • SB 2753: Integrated early and election day voting into a unified period, eliminated the four-day gap, and adjusted reporting, ballot transfer, and hours for efficiency; effective after SOS report (no later than August 1, 2027).
  • SJR 37: Clarified that only U.S. citizens may vote in Texas elections.

Public Education and School Safety

  • HB 2: Invested a historic $8.5 billion in public education, both providing for teacher pay raises and increased classroom funding. Mark Dorazio was a coauthor.
  • HB 6: Gave teachers expanded authority in classroom discipline, empowering them to more easily remove students for disruptive or dangerous behavior. Mark Dorazio was a coauthor.
  • HB 33: Required increased safety training for school safety officers to prevent another tragedy like the one in Uvalde. Mark Dorazio was a coauthor.
  • HB 27: Made Texas the 27th state to have a personal financial literacy course as a requirement for high school graduation.
  • SB 10: Allowed for the 10 Commandments to be displayed in public school classrooms. Mark Dorazio was a cosponsor.
  • SB 965: Codified the right of school employees to engage in religious speech or prayer while on duty. Mark Dorazio was a cosponsor.

Parental Empowerment

  • SB 2: Empowered parents to give their children the best education possible by allowing education funding to follow the child to the school of the parents’ choice. Mark Dorazio cosponsored.
  • SB 12: Strengthened parental rights in Texas public education by affirming that Parents have a clear right to direct the moral, religious, and educational upbringing of their children. It also promoted greater transparency and accountability from school administration.

Public Safety

  • HB 2217: Created a grant program whereby eligible local law enforcement will receive funding to outfit their vehicles with bullet resistant components including windshields, side windows, and side doors.
  • HB 2306: Removed parole eligibility for offenders convicted of trafficking crimes involving children and disabled individuals ensuring these individuals serve their full sentence. Mark Dorazio was a coauthor.
  • SB 1212: Increased the penalty for human trafficking offenses across the board to a first-degree felony.
  • SJR 5: Denied bail for certain violent felonies and expands magistrates’ options for the denial of bail in certain sexual, violent, and human trafficking offenses.

Right to Life

  • SB 33: Ensured taxpayer funds are not used to facilitate out-of-state abortions. Mark Dorazio was a cosponsor.
  • SB 31: The Life of the Mother Act clearly defined and clarified existing protections for the life of the mother, ensuring treatment during medical emergencies.

Second Amendment

  • SB 1362: Banned the recognition or enforcement of red flag orders in Texas. It reinforces our commitment to protecting the rights of law-abiding citizens while ensuring due process for all Texans. Mark Dorazio was a cosponsor.
  • HB 668: Created a one-year grace period after the expiration of a license to carry during which a license holder may renew the license rather than undergo the full application process for a new license.
  • SB 706: Updated Texas license to carry laws to recognize handgun licenses issued by all other states. Mark Dorazio was a joint sponsor.
  • SB 1596: Established that the possession, manufacture, transport, repair, or sale of short-barrel firearms is not prohibited under state law. Mark Dorazio was a cosponsor.
  • HB 3053: Banned cities and counties from organizing, sponsoring, or participating in gun buyback programs. Mark Dorazio was a coauthor.
  • HB 1403: Ensured that foster homes will not be required to provide a list of firearms present in the home, preserving the foster family’s constitutional rights and removing an unnecessary roadblock to more families fostering children.

Energy and Infrastructure

  • HB 150: Established the Texas Cyber Command, located in San Antonio. Its responsibility is to prevent, respond to, and defend against cybersecurity threats and increase the cybersecurity posture and resiliency of the state.
  • HJR 7: Created a dedicated funding stream for the Texas Water Fund, ensuring access to water meets demand as Texas continues to grow and develop.
  • HB 14: Created the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office and a $350 million fund to support nuclear development and an advanced nuclear energy supply chain in our state.
  • SB 6: Regulated large-load interconnections (e.g., data centers), requiring cost contributions and PUC oversight for grid reliability.
  • SB 231: Authorized temporary emergency electric facilities for rapid outage response.
  • SB 2148: Established standards for temporary emergency electric facilities to ensure rapid deployment during outages.
  • SB 75 Established the Texas Grid Security Commission to enhance the resilience of the state’s electric grid against natural disasters, cyber threats, and physical attacks.
